The Circle Pendant Light was commissioned by a local lighting designer with the goal of using a circline bulb to create a light fixture that reflected the bubbles found in a glass of champagne. One of the fixtures was used in the Bottega VIP Lounge at the 2014 Interior Design Show West in Vancouver.

Karice was approached with the champagne inspiration and a circline light bulb, and from there we designed, developed, and manufactured the final lighting fixture.

We began the development process using Auto CAD drafting. Next, we had to develop an aluminum box to hold the circline bulb. Several steel box models were first attempted, but after many trials we finally came up with a CNC machined two piece aluminum box. The box had to be sized to allow for the fit of the electronic ballast and fit all three different sizes of circline bulbs.

For the finishing touches, we used aluminum and gold anodizing to achieve a brass look most cost effectively. Careful attention to this detail meant we had to apply a fine brushed finish on all exterior surfaces of the box. All of the edges of the box were chamfered to give an elegant look.

After the specific lights were complete, our next task was to create a fixture that mimicked the bubbles in champagne. A large 30-inch circular metal canopy was developed to allow us to hang ten pendants simultaneously. Using various sizes of circline bulbs and varying heights, we were able to create the fixture that showcased in the Bottega VIP lounge at IDS West 2014.

All fixture design, product development, manufacturing, and certification of the non-dimmable Circle light fixture were completed by Karice at our facility. Powder coating and anodizing were outsourced by Karice to local vendors.
