A Five-Foot Custom Pendant Light Made for a Private Residence’s Kitchen Island
HB Design came to us with a concept for their client in West Vancouver. Our job at Karice was to turn it into a custom kitchen island pendant light built specifically for this private residence.
At roughly five feet long, the fixture we’ve built stretches across the island as one continuous piece. We fabricated the metal shade in genuine antique brass, then left the brass natural on the inside to help reflect light from the exposed LED filament bulbs below.
There’s another detail that changes its character completely: the suspension tubes are wrapped in natural sisal rope. Against the brass, that added texture gives the pendant a much more distinctive material mix.
And this wasn’t decorative lighting for decoration’s sake. Positioned directly over the work surface, the pendant also serves as kitchen island task lighting.
The result is a stunning pendant light for the kitchen island made specifically for this private residence, from its five-foot span to the finish and suspension details.
