Custom Lighting Inspired by Division I Athletics
For California Baptist University’s Division I Baseball program, the lighting needed to reflect the same level of performance, identity, and ambition found throughout the facility. Rather than specifying conventional pendants, the design team envisioned a fixture that would celebrate the sport itself while creating a memorable arrival experience for athletes, recruits, alumni, and visitors.
Working closely with the design team, Karice engineered and manufactured a series of custom baseball bat-inspired pendants that transform a functional circulation space into a distinctive architectural feature. Standing over six feet in length, each fixture echoes the proportions of an oversized aluminum baseball bat while delivering powerful, precisely controlled illumination from its illuminated tip.
Suspended throughout the double-height atrium, the fixtures establish rhythm and scale while reinforcing the university’s athletic identity. The result is a lighting installation that is both sculptural and purposeful—creating an unforgettable first impression while celebrating the spirit of Division I competition.
