A Sweeping Curve of Linear Lighting Above the Main Counter
At City Cannabis in Vancouver, a long LED linear pendant light arcs above the main counter. And that curve is what made it challenging to build.
A straight linear run is one thing to fabricate cleanly. A curved one is another. Every joint, every shift in diffusion, every inconsistency in the curvature shows up in the finished line of light. With only one fixture carrying the composition, there was no secondary pendant nearby to soften an uneven curve or an interrupted glow.
We built this curved linear pendant light as one elongated piece rather than a run of segments. The bend and the diffusion had to be developed together, because if we get either one wrong, the light stops reading as a single continuous line.
That curve further carries down to the counter below it. Both trace the same sweeping line, which lets the linear suspended light fixture sit naturally in the space instead of competing with it.
The customized fixture also had to do double duty – lighting the counter directly while keeping the ceiling around it open. The result; a linear pendant lighting working as function, not just a decorative statement.
