A Public Landmark Reimagined Through Custom Arched Pier Lighting
White Rock Pier is a landmark stretch of the White Rock, BC waterfront, well known to residents and visitors alike.
Supplied to Crown Contracting, with MCW Consultants retained by the Municipality of White Rock, Karice was brought on to strengthen the pier’s identity after dark with a new waterfront lighting system.
We engineered a custom arched lighting system with integrated LED illumination, where each arch works as both a structural element and a light source. That dual role let us build a consistent rhythm along the walkway while keeping the waterfront’s open, unobstructed character intact.
Repeated at regular intervals, the arches create a distinct nighttime silhouette visible from the beach, the shoreline, and the water. This also gives pedestrians a more defined, memorable experience as they move along the pier.
Because the lighting sits in an exposed, highly visible public setting, precision mattered at every stage. Each arch had to align exactly, hold its form, and read clearly from multiple vantage points along the waterfront.
