Multiple Lighting Concepts Unified Across One Restaurant

Earls on King Street, Toronto, needed custom lighting across several zones. Each installation gives different parts of the restaurant their own visual pace.

The main challenge for our team here was range.ย Working from Earls Design Team‘s concepts, we turned multiple separate ideas into fabricated, coordinated pieces for the Toronto-based restaurant.

Honeycomb Pendant Light at the Entrance

Before moving into the bar and dining areas, the first thing guests see is a bespoke honeycomb pendant.ย

Itโ€™s equipped with nine sources of light, wrapped in thin-gauge steel. The fixture creates the illusion of a large spherical honeycomb.

Wagon Wheel Chandeliers Over the Bar

Over the bar area, four black wagon wheel chandeliers hang, each equipped with 12 downlights.

The repetition does the work:ย

Four large circular lights,
scaled to the bar zone,
carrying the main bar lighting without relying on a single oversized fixture.

Large Multi-Bulb Pendant Lighting in the Dining Room

The dining room installation was the largest lighting scope.ย We fabricated a 192-lamp multi-light pendant chandelier built from 16 lighting panels, together forming an overall footprint of 36 feet by 11 feet. This creates a suspended field of light across the dining room rather than a single central fixture.

Because of the scale, our team had to work out panel layout, lamp spacing, and suspension points as one coordinated system before fabrication could begin.

Modern Swag Chandelier

Another major feature of the restaurant is the 17-foot swag chandelier.ย This chandelier uses Tom Dixon vintage pendants, re-wired with long swags of vintage cloth wire.ย

The wiring itself forms part of the visual language. It adds a looser, more layered counterpoint to the tighter geometry of the ring chandeliers and dining room pendant system.

Custom Wine Wall and Wine Glass Holder Metalwork

We also fabricated the restaurant’s wine wall and wine glass holders.ย Both pieces work as functional hospitality fixtures, coordinated with the lighting language around them. This extended our scope on this project beyond chandeliers into practical metalwork.
