An Angular Composition of Geometric Pendant Lighting Across an Open Cafรฉ Ceiling

At JJ Bean at UBC in Vancouver, the lighting stretches across the open ceiling in a loose arrangement of angles, turns, and vertical drops.

Instead of repeating the same pendant shape, we used custom geometric pendant lights in different orientations. Some run straight, some turn at right angles, and others drop vertically. That variation keeps the installation from feeling too uniform and gives the ceiling a dynamic look.

The dark, exposed ceiling of the space helps the illuminated forms stand out even more. At the same time, the suspension cables keep the fixtures light in appearance and allow the open structure above to remain visible.

What makes this custom pendant lighting work here is the repetition of simple linear forms. Each section is straightforward on its own, but together they create a more dynamic overhead composition.

The finished geometric pendant lighting adds structure and visual interest to the cafรฉ while still fitting naturally within the exposed ceiling layout.
