A Restaurant Interior Shaped by Vertical Light and Musical Form
At Earls Lincoln Park in Chicago, the ceiling and dining wall create two distinctly different visual experiences. One draws the eye through the restaurant with repeated points of light. The other turns a familiar musical instrument into a large sculptural composition.
Producing both required precise spacing and mounting. But the fabrication process behind each installation was entirely different.
Custom Drop Pendant Lights
Working with the Earls Design Team and a local lighting designer, we developed the bespoke drop pendant lighting as a long suspended arrangement of narrow black tubes.
Each pendant terminates in an exposed globe lamp. Different suspension lengths place the bulbs across multiple elevations, creating movement without relying on a conventional chandelier frame. The narrow tubes emphasize the vertical drop while keeping the supporting structure visually minimal.
Altogether, this forms a continuous tube pendant light installation through the restaurant.
Custom Trumpet Art Wall and Brass Cladding
The dining room feature wall began with a concept by Ricky Alvarez of Tinto Creative: dozens of trumpets projecting outward from the wall at different positions and angles.
Karice fabricated the brass wall cladding using our waterjet cutting system, forming the surface the trumpets are mounted to. We then hand-cut each of the 45 trumpets to set its angle. And epoxied fasteners inside for mounting, keeping the attachment method concealed.
Ricky completed the surface finishing on the brass cladding, bringing the fabricated wall and instrument composition together as one installation.
