Structure, Movement, and Warmth Through Custom Decorative Lighting

Earls in Maple Avenue, Burlington needed several lighting pieces with different roles.ย

One fixture brought structure. One brought movement. And another brought a smaller vintage accent layer.

Karice worked with the Earls Design Team to fabricate custom decorative lighting for the restaurant. Each piece had to support the overall interior while carrying its own detail up close.

Modern Black Wagon Wheel Chandeliers

Three custom wagon wheel chandeliers, built in black, anchor the restaurant’s dining area.ย Each one carries fifteen lamps around its circular frame. The form of the fixtures is familiar, but the detailing is cleaner and more restrained than a traditional wagon chandelier.

The black finish recedes into the darker palette by design, so the lamps do the visual work. That’s what gives the room its overhead rhythm.

Vintage Swag Chandeliers for the Dining Area

The dining area also features three bespoke swag chandeliers. Each chandelier measures 4’6″ in diameter and uses thirty Edison bulbs with antique black sockets and wire cages. The wiring hangs in a swagged fashion – creating a loose, layered look beneath the round canopy.

This chandelier takes a different approach than the wagon wheel overhead. Less rigid, more textured. The exposed wiring and repeated points of light give the fixture its vintage character.

Custom Table Lamps with Bronze Glass Shades

Karice also fabricated three custom table lamps for the project. These vintage table lamps use bronze custom glass shades, antique black sockets, and Marconi filament bulbs. The bronze glass softens the light and gives the lamps a warmer presence within the restaurant.ย

Used as accent pieces, these vintage bronze table lamps add another layer to the lighting plan without competing with the chandeliers overhead.
