Eight Suspended Lines of Light Across an Open Restaurant Ceiling
For its fifth Vancouver location on West Broadway Street, Tractor Foods needed lighting that read clearly against an exposed ceiling. Eight custom linear pendant fixtures now stretch across it at different angles above the dining area.
Working with Dave Wong of WHG Design, we translated the linear lighting concept into a custom suspended arrangement rather than a uniform row of fixtures. The changing orientations allow individual lines to cross and extend in different directions, creating variation from one view of the restaurant to the next.
The linear suspension lighting also sits within an already active ceiling of exposed pipes, ductwork, and other building services. Its simple geometry remains distinct within that background while keeping the overhead composition open.
Function was equally important to the design. Beyond its visual pattern, the installation was built to meet the restaurant’s overhead lighting requirements. This gives Tractor Foods commercial linear pendant lighting that reads as functional infrastructure rather than only a decorative statement.
