Sprocket and Chain Custom Gear Chandelier

We wanted to create an epic piece reflecting the culmination of our 28 years in business as an artisan manufacturer in the architectural metal and custom lighting industries. That’s why we created Sprocket and Chain: a 10-ft by 10-ft sculptural LED chandelier, designed by Maurice Dery.

A functioning gear, not a motif

The entire fixture is made to scale; in other words, it’s an actual functioning gear. We crafted the inner 5-ft diameter steel sprocket both to interlock with the chain and to carry a finish that reflects the true wear-and-tear of a real sprocket. The chain itself is built from 20 aluminum and acrylic links. Each one is lit at 325 lumens, for 6,524 across the chain, with roughly 9,372 more from the sprocket.

Suspended by aircraft cables, this bespoke chandelier appears to float in mid-air. There are no power cables and no visible fasteners. We designed it to hide all “visual pollution”.

Configured to your specification

Colour temperature is available from 2700K to 4100K, with phase, 0-10V, ELV, or DALI dimming and standard, high-output, or custom lumen packages. Standard finishes are black, white, silver, and bronze look, with Sun Gold also available for the fixture and canopy, and custom finishes on request. Canopy options include standard configurations such as a 6″ hex, plus custom canopy requests.

Time

TIME Custom Clock Chandelier

TIME began as a collaboration with Kalu Interiors for their “Alice in Wonderland” dinner scape at a Dinner by Design show in Vancouver. It became our Alice in Wonderland chandelier concept turned inward: instead of decorating around the theme, we took it inside the clock itself, building an exploded view of gears, springs, pins, and illuminated ruby-like jewels.

Designed by Maurice Dery, this bespoke clock chandelier layers machined aluminum clockwork across the composition. Five Citizen COB LEDs stand in for the ruby jewels traditionally used inside a mechanical watch or clock, turning the mechanism into a functional LED chandelier.

Rather than treating gears as surface decoration, we built the gears, springs, pins, hands, and light sources into the composition itself. The result is a clockwork lighting that keeps the original Alice in Wonderland concept visible without becoming a literal clock face.

This custom chandelier can be specified at 2700K, 3000K, or 3500K, with phase, 0-10V, ELV, or DALI dimming and standard, high-output, or custom lumen packages. Standard finishes include Light Gold Anodized, Clear Anodized, and Black Anodized, with custom finishes available on request. Standard and custom canopy options are also available, including a 6″ diameter canopy configuration.

Leonardo 1482 – Da Vinci

Leonardo 1482 Sculptural Chandelier

Leonardo 1482 is a sculptural chandelier that resembles a rising sun, drawing on Renaissance-era mechanics. It’s named for the year Leonardo da Vinci began designing and developing his inventions.

Designed by Maurice Dery, it’s the main chandelier in our Da Vinci Collection, which uses modern technology to capture the spirit of what Leonardo did in the late 15th and early 16th centuries: his mechanics and his approach to magnifying and projecting light. The collection also includes the Vitruvian Table Lamp, Infinity 1519 Table Lamp, Infinity 1519 Pendant, Infinity Modern Pendant, and Infinity Modern Sconce.

Built around moving mechanics

We developed this Da Vinci chandelier around working mechanical elements rather than just decorative gears. In this gear chandelier, magnifiers direct the light onto mirrors, and a pull on the brass chain moves eight cogged wheels simultaneously to redirect it onto the wall or floor.

We built it from genuine patinaed brass and blackened aluminum, giving this piece of sculptural lighting the aged, vintage character of Renaissance-era machinery.
