A Collaboration Marie Khouri x Karice

The Spheres are unique bronze sculptures by world famous artist and sculptor Marie Khouri. Marie wishing to expand the uses of her pieces, teamed up with Maurice Laurent Dery of Karice to create a new magical lighting collection titled Spheres.

THE ARTISTS:

MARIE KHOURI BIOGRAPHY

Vancouver-based sculptor, Marie Khouri, represents the broad multi cultural and diverse demographic of Western Canada. Born in Egypt and raised in Lebanon, Khouri has developed a vast range of cultural and historical influences within her practice. With a childhood interrupted during the Lebanese Civil War, Khouri was relocated to Spain, Italy and Canada, finally settling in Paris where she was classically trained in sculpture at l’École du Louvre. On her return to Vancouver, a retrospective of her life took form in her sculpture, reflecting a passion for innovation and spontaneity.

MAURICE L. DERY BIOGRAPHY

Hailing from a French-Canadian Background, whose family line can be traced back to some of the first settlers in Quebec from the 1600’s. Maurice was born on the Prairies, and moved to the Vancouver area 34 years ago. Designing and building resonate at the very core of his being. Product development, design and engineering are what Maurice does besides being a hypercritical perfectionist when it comes to fabrication and execution. With the Spheres, additional steps were chosen to incorporated the newest and greatest in LED technology.

As with all Karice product, all lights are handcrafted in our facility in South Surrey. Sculptures by Marie Khouri.
This new lighting design is available as a collaboration . Each Bronze Sculpture, hand perfected by Marie herself. Each sculpture is a unique creation. No two will be alike. Cast out of genuine bronze, the pieces will be heirlooms for many future generations to come.

3 – 5 inch diameter hand blown glass globes. Dim to warm technology. Made from genuine bronze via loss wax pouring.

Shroom

SHROOM PENDANT LIGHT

CONCEPT:

Have a look at our Shroom Pendant Light. Karice was delighted to travel down the rabbit hole to design and create it’s Shroom Pendant Luminaire.

Shroom is a new innovative lighting design. Originally designed for the Alice in Wonderland themed bar display at IDS Vancouver 2016. The light is a piece of abstract art that has a loose artistic impression resembling a mushroom shape.

The LED pendant is composed of 30 vertical aluminum blades (gills) that are intricately held together by a cleverly designed, milled aluminum top and bottom cap. The light is illuminated from within its acrylic core as well as by downlight. Illumination is provided by 12V energy efficient LEDs. The light provides both mood and task lighting. A mesmerizing display of light is created by the cast of light as it reflects onto the aluminum blades. Each viewing angle produces a new result.

Shroom can be suspended on its own, or increase the fun by hanging a multiple arrangement of the pendants.

Aluminum construction with acrylic diffuser. 2 foot diameter and 16 inches tall.

Phoenix

PHOENIX RISING FROM THE ASHES

Phoenix rising from the ashes. Phoenix Pendant Light is a decorative light for imagining new spaces. Phoenix is a artistic representation of the mythological phoenix bird. Hand crafted using genuine brass, and enlighten rod. The illumination of Phoenix, results in the creation of one’s own magical environment.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT and INSPIRATION

Inspiration comes in many different shapes, sizes and places. Sometimes inspiration comes from the very client you are creating for. The lights started with an idea, and evolved into the light known as Phoenix Rising from the Ashes. Designed in 2020 for our modern and artistic collections.

The Phoenix light suspends from a simple coaxial cable. The approximate size of the light is 21″ x 18″, although variation occurs with the specific curvature of the wings and tail. Each bird is unique in appearance. The wings and tail are heat treated to enable beautiful variation in coloration. No two birds will be alike.

All lighting products are handcrafted with care and precision in our manufacturing facility in British Columbia. As with all our creations, we are seeking to promote the outdoors and Beautiful British Columbia.

Da Vinci – Infinity 1519 Pendant

The Infinity 1519 Pendant resembles a setting sun, borrowing heavily from Renaissance-era design, and is appropriately named for the year Leonardo Da Vinci passed away.

DA VINCI COLLECTION INFINITY 1519 Pendants

The Da Vinci Collection is based on the challenging premise of using modern technology to create an original avant-garde suite of luminaire pieces that accurately portray the spirit of what Leonardo was doing in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Specifically, the objective was to reflect the mechanics of Da Vinci, and to reflect his approach in magnifying and projecting light.

The new edition of this beautiful lighting series is made using genuine brass pieces that are antiqued to reflect an old age vintage for that era.

To complete the collection, the Infinity 1519 is an avant-garde luminaire symbolizing a setting sun, as 1519 was the year Leonardo da Vinci passed away. The ringed capsule has a seemingly endless horizon, so the sight line is infinite. It can be displayed as a hanging pendant or suspended within a half moon table lamp.

BLOOM LED PENDANT

Blending the latest in LED technology with artisan hand blown glass, and hand formed brass petals, we present BLOOM LED Pendant. An artist’s rendition of a floral light. Group several Blooms together to have a beautiful floral bouquet of light.

The Bloom Collection is based on an artists interpretation of a floral arrangement. Using brass and hand blown glass. Each piece is unique and individual. No two lights will be alike.

The new edition of this beautiful lighting series is made using genuine and hand blown glass.

The petals of bloom are cut with precision. Each is hand formed and heat treated to create individual beauty.

Equipped with the newest in LED technology the light engine uses a dim-to-warm COB. The range of color temperature output is 1800k to 3000k, enabling one to set the mood for the room.

As with the fashion of Karice Lighting, we are determined to present unique one of a kind fixtures that will create timeless beauty in the home or office or where ever one want to create visual interest of light.
